January Challenge DT Reveal - Blank Page Muse

It's a new year, a new shop name and new inspiration for you to look forward to!

Every month on the 10th, all of our wonderful designers come together to show you a collaboration of ideas.  We will play along with a different theme each month and share with you how you can turn a 'blank page' into something amazing!

January Challenge DT Reveal This months theme is: Turquoise, Silver and Sparkle!
Ice Skaters Winter Fabric Tag

Simon Says Monday Stamp Challenge - This week the challenge is "Winter Blues"  Create something with a spot of blue somewhere on your project. There are no rules as to what you may create – whether you are a card maker, mixed media artist, scrapbooker, or any other kind of crafter you are welcome.  You may enter up to 5/week.  Simon Says Stamps will be giving away $50 voucher to the shop. Challenge Rules

The first Artistic Stamper Challenge of 2018 is "Anything Goes" which means you can do anything you like as long as it has rubber stamping in it. Then link up using the Inklinkz. (maximum 3 entries per person). One randomly picked entrant will receive a stamp of their choice from the Artistic Stamper. More info can be found HERE.

Directions:
1. Cut out 2 rectangles of creme muslin fabric (4x5") and trim into a tag shape. Next, stamp the children using black ink along the bottom edge. Tie a "knot style" faux bow with a small length of muslin fabric.

2. Layer the two tag shaped pieces and machine stitch around the edge of the tag using a contrasting thread.  Use a needle to unpick the threads of the fabric and gently fray the edges. (1/4")
3. Use masking tape to attach the tag to a piece of cardboard or box lid to protect the edges from the spray mist. Apply turquoise mist and use your finger to work it into the fabric. Color the faux bow with turquoise mist and set both aside to dry.

 4. Apply white crackle paint onto the upper portion of the tag and create snow drifts along the bottom edge. Set aside to dry.

5. When the crackle paint has set, stamp a flurry of snowflakes around the children. To make the children appear in front of some snowflakes, mask off the children with a bit of scrap paper, stamp the snowflake while overlapping the paper, and then discard the paper. Repeat masking off the edge to create snowflakes extending off the tag while maintaining the crisp edge of the stitching and frayed edge.

6. Apply silver glitter glue along the ground around the children's feet and accentuate the snowflakes by adding iridescent glitter glue over them.

7. Attach a loop of twine to the top and adhere the faux bow. Finally, wrap a bit of twine multiple times along the lower edge, embellish the tag with a scattering of teal sequins, and adhere a selection of small snowflake buttons.
