Solo Flight

A fond farewell to 2018. Here is my last post of the year to share a final Christmas card but not one done in traditional colors.  I thought a lone reindeer was a fitting touch flying over the magical city.  I embossed the wooden reindeer with silver. Thanks for joining me!

    Button Christmas Cards

    Hey Crafty Peeps,
If you are like me, buttons are one of my favorite embellishments.  I have fond memories of rummaging through my mother's button box which felt like special treasures to me.  Today I feature simple buttons on some festive Christmas cards. You can find out more about my cards HERE on the FotoBella Blog.
The background paper is from the Simple Stories collection called Sub Zero. It is the perfect combination of bright colors that celebrates the fun of the Winter months.  I hope I have inspired you to dig out your button collection and feature them prominently on your next project.

Christmas Blog Hop - Blank Page Muse

    Hi Gals,
Thanks for stopping by to see my project for the BPM Christmas Blog Hop.  You will find loads of inspiration along the way from Christmas gift giving ideas to ornaments to decorate your home. Make sure to visit all the participating blogs and then leave a comments about your favorite idea/s on the BPM post. You could win a fabulous grab bag of assorted stamps. (Last day to comment is December 8th.)  Grab some hot chocolate and come along for a spectacular trip!  You can find the Blog Hop HERE.
Here is a fun and frugal idea done by mixing and matching stamp sets.  Try looking at your non-holiday stamp supplies in a new light and get thinking "outside the gift box."

I created a galaxy sky background with texture stamps.  Even the sentiment originally came from a beach themed stamp set.  A dress form is not usually a Christmas image but I designed the second card for a crafty friend who enjoys sewing.   I also made tiny spools near the doll's hands to accentuate the seamstress theme.  I hope my cards inspire you to stretch your supplies and your creativity and look at your stamp sets with new eyes.

Naughty or Nice Layout - FotoBella

Today I'm sharing my scrapbook layout on the FotoBella Blog using the Simple Stories collection called Sub Zero. I created an accordion fold mini album that holds five photos and adds a kinetic element to the layout. You can find the step by step tutorial HERE.

Confession Corner:  The final design of this layout was not my original plan. My first idea was to incorporate five small photos under the main photo. I wanted the photos lined up like little Christmas gifts with bows on top. However, the colors in the photos resisted my idea and just didn't look too good with the background papers. Therefore, I had to go to "plan B" an accordion fold mini album.

CAS Tree Card - Quick Idea

This is the perfect card to make ahead of time and keep in your stash of cards. By leaving space along the lower edge, you can add the appropriate sentiment as required.  When you need a last minute card, you can simply convert it to a "Thank You" card, "Get Well Soon" card, or "Happy Birthday" card.  I find this design to be especially useful as a "With Sympathy" card. Check it out HERE on the Blank Page Muse Blog.

      Winter Cards - FotoBella

My first project of the month features the Simple Stories collection called Sub Zero. It is the perfect combination of bright colors that celebrates the fun activities done during the Winter months.  The 4x6" designs from the scrapbook paper pack were used as the starting point for my cards. Cheerful large messages formed the focal point and then quirky Winter animals and snowflake embellishments were added to finish them off perfectly. You can see my fun cards HERE.

      FotoBella - Happy Halloween Card

Here is a moderately spooky Halloween card with a slightly vintage feel which is super easy to make. I used lots of patterned papers that perfectly compliment each other and tie the card together because they are all from the Graphic 45 kit - Off to the Races.  Even kits that are heavily themed have loads of smaller patterns that can be used in other projects.  Don't be afraid to stretch your supplies!

Happy Haunting Card - Blank Page Muse

Here is quick background done using a simple masking technique and blending distress inks.  It is a useful technique that allows you layer your stamping and avoid having to fussy cut a intricate and delicate image like this witch silhouette.  I love those little Halloween buttons that finish off my sexy witch perfectly.  Embellishing really is the best part of any project.  You can find the complete tutorial at the Blank Page Muse Blog.

      Easel Cards - FotoBella

      Hello Crafty Friends,
Here are my second projects of the month featuring the glorious Graphic 45 kit "Off to the Races." I hope you enjoy my two easel cards. I did one super feminine card with a touch of lace and the second one was more masculine by avoiding the rose designs. So it is good to note that with what may appear to be a feminine kit, it is possible to make manly projects from this kit as well.
