My little niece recently turned 3 and had a unicorn themed party.  So what else is a crazy aunt suppose to do but make her a unicorn wall art to hang in her room. It was great fun to create the mane and tail with texture paste.

Rustic Horse Card

Oh, how I wish I could draw!  Something so beautiful from a few wavy lines!  I can proudly say I shaded him with watercolors as the stamped image was purely a line drawing.  Then I created a rustic feel with woodgrain paper with delicate wildflowers. I added a border of faux stitching and a flower cluster to complete the card.

I've been thinking winter themes since early September to transform a dull community center hall into Winter ONE-derland.

Baby Lion New Arrival Card

Welcome a new arrival with this cute canvas lion card.

From a tree and sunflower...to a little lion!

Directions:
1. Use the Linnie Blooms canvas tree to make the head, body, ears, & muzzle. Use the canvas sunflower for the lion's mane. Cut the shapes needed and color the canvas pieces using a sponge applicator and Distress Inks.

2. Assemble the lion and add button eyes & a ribbon tail. Use chalk to give the lion pink cheeks and inner ears. Add facial details using a pigment ink pen and also add faux stitching by drawing dashed lines around the lion's mane.

3. Next, select four coordinating patterned papers and create a pedestal for the lion using two of them. Stamp the word "baby" on the third patterned paper and add highlights using a white gel pen. Cut out the letters and attach them to the base of the pedestal along with two strips of scalloped edging.

4. Mount the lion cluster on the fourth paper and lastly mount everything to a scallop edged greeting card. Finally, embellish the card: add a flag, hearts, a ribbon bow, and faux stitching around the edge of the card using a white gel pen.

Cards for Kids

Jungle Animals Gatefold Card

A Closer Look:

 

 

I used mainly two papers to construct this gatefold card: Into the Wild & Jungle Friends. I fussy cut around the animals and then used the remaining paper to create the background scenes. Both inside flaps were made with a 6" sheet from the Little Animals pad. I used foam mounting tape to raise the elephant & monkey's head on the front of the card, as well as, some jungle leaves and the bird. On the inside of the card, I cut around the lower portion of the elephant's ear and carefully inserted a bit of foam tape to lift it give it more dimension. The elephant and sun overhang the edge of the card. To make the animals a bit friendlier, I added pink cheeks to them using chalk. Finally, I added some additional leaves made with a small paper punch to bring a unifying cohesive element to all the scenes.
