New ColorWays Word Embellishment Packs!

Here are the new Paper House Rub-Ons which are packed full of phrases and sentiments that make it easy to use on any layout, pocket scrapbook page, card, or home decór.  I especially love the Puffy Word Stickers that add a subtle dimension and lots of detail.   They offer a nice mix of sentiments and icons. All of the embellishments have sparkly metallic accents, too!

Welcome Baby!!! (OFP)

The ColorWays scrapbook paper comes in an amazing selection of patterns. I was inspired to use a modest diagonal stripe with a subtle delicate flourished edge to feature my sister's forthcoming bundle of joy.  By using black & white photos with only a pop of color, I was able to focus the layout on the photos. The ColorWays Sapphire Accent Pack perfectly compliments the blossoming family and they even have silver foil highlights.

A Sneak Peek:
Checkout the Sapphire Blue ColorWays Collection from Paper House!

Directions:
1. Select three photos, one 3x4" accent card, and Sapphire Dahlia for the background.

2. Cut a matte for two of the photos in coordinating blue cardstock.  Emboss a piece of transparency with a flourish edge design and mount it over the main photo. Add accent dots over the transparency. Then double matte the main photo with vellum.

3. Next, adhere the photos to the layout.  Then assemble an embellishment cluster and attach it to a crochet doilie. Create a matching mini cluster for the lower right corner.

4. Finally, embellish the layout with a puffy word accent sticker, flair, stars, gems, ribbon, transparency, & rub-on transfers.

Paper House Supplies:  Sapphire Dahlia 12" ColorWays Scrapbook Paper, Sapphire Accent Pack, Today Happens Rub-On Transfers, Happy Moment Rub-On Transfers, Seek Beauty Rub-On Transfers, Explore Puffy Sticker, Enjoy Puffy Sticker, Believe Puffy Sticker, Vintage Romance Snapshot Sticker Embellishments, Scroll Flourish embossing folder (Darice), transparency

Other Supplies: crochet doilie 4in, flair, gems, ribbon, transparency, paper doilie

(TIP:  If a large area of pretty background paper is covered by a photo, mark where the four corners of the photo are with a pencil. Use a craft knife and carefully cut out this section 1/4 inch smaller than what you marked. Rescue this bit of pretty paper and put it back in your stash for another project.)

            Oriental Fan Thank You Card:

Products I used:
Linnie Blooms Canvas Tree
Stampendous Products

Directions:
1. Stamp Image: Stamp the fan onto the tree using Ranger Archival black ink.  Stamp the cherry blossom flowers onto the center of the fan.  Cut off the trunk of the tree and stamp some additional cherry blossoms onto the canvas.

2. Paint & Glitter: Using a water brush, paint the cherry blossoms with watercolor paints. Add glue to a smattering of spots and sprinkle Stampendous copper glitter over the image.  Shake off the excess glitter and return it to the bottle.

3. Background:  Tear the edge of a strip of patterned paper and apply pink chalk to the torn edge.  Attach the patterned paper to the card base. Add glue to the centers of the flowers and add Stampendous glitter sand.  Shake off the excess glitter sand and return it to the bottle.

4. Embellish Fan: Fold the fan in a concertina style pressing firmly with your fingers to crease the canvas. Use some basting stitches to secure the folds at the base.  Embellish the handle of the fan with a charm and strips of tulle. Glue gems to the center of the blossoms and adhere the fan to the card.

5. Embellishments & Sentiment: Attach mini flowers, pearls, & a dragon fly accent to the background.  Stamp a sentiment in the lower right corner of the card. Cut out the canvas blossoms you stamped on the tree trunk canvas and adhere them near the sentiment.

Altered Clipboard

I wanted to create something beyond my usual paper crafting and thanks to a conversation with my sister, Janet, the embellished clipboard was born.  She needed a quick thank you gift for her breast feeding consultant who helped her with her newborn. The finished clipboard is pretty and feminine, as well as, a useful & practical gift.

Before:                                                           After:

A Closer Look:
Supplies:
Linnie Blooms Canvas Bookmark, Linnie Blooms Hand-dyed Trim, fabric scraps, watercolor paints, water brush, Stickles glitter glue, K&Co wooden embellishment, tulle, twine, ribbon, clipboard

Directions:
1. Paint the canvas bookmark with watercolor paints stopping just at the edge of the stitching.  Then iron the bookmark between two sheets of copy paper to speed up the drying time and help it to lay flat.  Apply a thin layer of glitter glue over the paint to give it a subtle twinkle. When dry, paint the wooden embellishment and adhere it to the canvas bookmark.

2. To assemble a fabric Yo Yo, cut a circle of fabric 4 inch in diameter. Hand sew a row of basting stitches along the edge of the circle.  Next, tighten the thread to gather the fabric forming a little pouch and flatten.  Secure stitches by knotting off and clipping the threads.

3.  Attach a ribbon rose to the center of the Yo Yo.  Lastly, cut four 3 inch circles of tulle fabric.  Fold each circle in half twice and baste them together to form a layered  circle.  Glue the folded tulle layers under the Yo Yo flower to give it more texture and dimension.

4. Next, attach the canvas bookmark along the top metal clip and embellish with a ribbon bow.  Finally, glue the finished flower to the top of the clipboard.  If desired, use a piece of jute or twine 18 inches long to secure a pen to the clipboard.
