Let's Dance Layout

My sister and her husband originally met in a swing dance class and now have been married for over 17 years.  They especially enjoy matching the time period in retro clothing & hair styles.   I'm so happy to capture the love that brought them together.  The distressed music sheet paper was perfect to compliment the photo yet not overwhelm or distract from them.  It was very hard to leave all that open space as I usually fill the entire layout but I'm super pleased with the final outcome.  In this case, less is more!  Come on...take my hand...let's dance!
I've made over 500 layouts since I began scrapbooking and this is only the second time I cut the people away from the background. The photo was great but the backdrop was a parking lot and gas station and was depressing. It really improved the layout once I cut them out. I'm sure if they were standing in grass by some bushes I never would have tried to cut around their silhouette. Serendipity....a happy accident!

This layout is entered into the following challenges...
Mixed Media Academy June Challenge

Supplies:
tools - brown ink pad, clock stamp
embellishments - ribbon, tag, gems, flowers, alphabet, brads, charm

Well done leaving all that open space, I know it can be hard to not keep adding things but this makes your photo the star of the layout. Such a lovely idea for your sister, captures a beautiful memory for them both. All of the embellishments go together so well, especially love the little 'notes'. Its a wonderful layout and so happy to see you again at TIME OUT!

Beautiful project! It was a very good decision to cut off the background from the photo. I also do this often when I create canvases.
Thank you for participating in the Mixed Media Academy challenge!
