Watercolor Holly

I kept this card simple and classic as I was inspired to follow the traditional Christmas colors.  I painted the holly with pearlized watercolors which gave them a beautiful shimmer. I loved the dimension that Liquid Pearls gave to the berries.  Finally, I couldn't resist stamping some extra holly to fussy cut and mount with foam tape.  CAS is not really my usual style but I am loving this design.

CAS Holiday Lights Christmas Card - Robin's Nest DT

Hello,
I'm hoping to share a little Christmas inspiration.  The phrase "stretch it out" gave me the idea of piles of tangled twinkle lights. This is a great card to make for that last minute function because it is super quick.  CAS is best if you plan to give handmade cards for the holiday season and have a long list of family and friends.  This is a good design to mass produce efficiently and requires few supplies.   The tutorial for this card can be found HERE on The Robin's Nest Blog.

Softly Grey & Peach

I stamped the flowers with grey ink to create a less harsh image onto watercolor paper. Then I painted the flowers with shimmering watercolors.  Next, I stamped some flourishes and embellished them with Liquid Pearls.  To add interest, I adhered one flower overlapping the top edge of the card.  Gold micro beads were the perfect finishing touch to add realistic dimension to the center of the flowers.

When Skies Are Grey Layout

I wanted to celebrate and rejoice in the excitement of my sister becoming a first time Mom as she dreams of all the possibilities for her baby son. This is one of my all-time favorites of them.  I was inspired by the glowing candles for my color selection.  I created the sun by using short strips of ribbons & trims. The sun's light is overcoming the dull winter sky and I am thrilled with how it came out. I love the texture and interest it added to the page.  I glittered the title with silver to add a special twinkle.  The little raindrops are tear shaped, transparent, and called Dew Drops.  They are available exclusively at The Robin's Nest Shop. (By the way, they come in every color imaginable not just blue.)

Hint of Yellow Layout

I wasn't too sure about this color scheme when I started but in the end, I think it came together.  I tried to create that warm candle glow using vellum with embossed golden swirls.  I was inspired by the elaborate details on the Christmas cookies which is reflected in the fine detail on the floral medallion doily that I think looks like snowflakes.  I even pulled out my ancient border punches to add texture and create a lace-like appearance.   Finally, I added a bit of twinkle with a few small gems.  The photo is my high school senior yearbook photo which was certainly a time of big dreams and possibilities. I chose the left side of the sketch challenge and rotated it quarter right. I used more than 8 types of supplies: 5 papers, ribbon, gems, roses, stickers, border punch, embossed texture, chipboard, & corner punch.
