Let's Soar!

I created some stamped embellishments such as a newsprint flower, feather, butterfly, & bird.  The background paper had a subtle newsprint leaf design which worked perfectly.  I love that distressed wood grain paper. I even used some wood grain washi tape.

Resist Masking Technique

Hey Guys,
The background was created using a masking technique using petroleum jelly. (Vaseline)  I used my finger to smear petroleum jelly on select areas of the burgundy floral paper which served to mask it and protect it from paint.  Then I applied yellow acrylic paint with a brush directly to the remaining paper.  When the paint was dry, I carefully used tissues to remove the petroleum jelly.  This created a distressed irregular effect.  I like that it limited the visibility of the overpowering pattern.  This technique is only for the brave because it is a little unpredictable.  The final look depends completely on how you spread the petroleum jelly and the ratio of paint to pattern paper that is left exposed.  It is a bit of a gamble but well worth exploring.  (warning! it is a messy one!)

Rainbow Home Decor

I purchased a hanging decoration for my niece but I saw potential to jazz it up with additional embellishments. I decided to enhance the rainbow by adding transparent gems. The great thing about clear Dew Drops is that they can be put over any color. For added interest and a sense of movement, I increased the denseness of the gems along the left side rather than having them all equally spaced. Using ScraPerfect's Embellie Gellie to attach the gems was super efficient so making this project was rather quick and relaxing. To learn more about my home decor sign, you can find all the details HERE.

Wild West Layout

Oh my...Not using flowers, glitter, & bling is sooooooooo hard...but I'm happy with the Wild West theme.  I re-purposed a real denim pocket and the actual clothing labels.  Thankful to have this photo as I don't many with us together.

May These Rings!

I love the soft delicate lilac for the wedding photos and how the stamped swirls add movement to the page but my favorite part of the layout is the gently sweeping tulle that I draped over the photos mimicking the bride's veil.  I think the BW photos really help to make the layout rather special and eye-catching.  Hopefully, I can inspire myself to complete more layouts with empty white space.

Dew Drops & Vellum

This was a new idea I had to try.  I wanted to obscure the Dew Drops with a layer of vellum in order to create a soft dreamy effect.  The vellum muted the bright colors of the Dew Drops and dulled them to  subtle pastel shades.  I love the effect!

Flip Flop Fix Up

Take a look at how I easily embellished my damaged flip flops. It was only half way through the summer when the metallic strap began to crack and fade. Then the lovely shiny foil began to disintegrate. So I knew I could try to rejuvenate them with new life if I could find some suitable crafty camouflage to disguise the flaws.  Find the tutorial HERE on the ScraPerfect Blog.

Just Being Natural

I love all the natural elements in the moodboard. I emphasized wood grain and and grassy fields & trees.  I used different sized circle punches to create bubbly embellishments from a scenic style paper.
Did you see the little cork bird embellishment?
